I always love these things because I do wonder what the heck everyone else does. I just reported today at Extra that George Clooney’s lil boat excursion was poppin, literally with fallen fireworks. I just got back from San Jose, CA, my fave place to visit for good Viet food, family, and the Sister to Sister Leadership Conference. For the past 3 years I’ve supported this AARS by hosting this annual Sister to Sister event, and every year I walk out more blessed than when I walked in. This year was no exception. The event is for Asian American young women between ages of 11-18 and they’re all invited from middle and high schools in the Bay Area.  The theme this year was “Make Your Mark”, which means every speaker and performance was all to “em”power these young minds to begin dreaming about what they yearn to do to make their own mark in this world. You guys, I cannot even tell you how ADORABLE, just absolutely heart squishing, it is to stand on a stage and look out onto a room of hope-filled, ambitious little girls. I met aspiring dancers, chefs, pro-skateboarders,  veterinarians, you name it. I was so inspired when Judge Jacqueline Duong, the first Vietnamese American woman ever appointed to bench in Northern, CA, shared her encouraging journey on the memories of escaping her country in a small fisherman’s boat proved she could overcome anything to get to where she dreams. While I was driving home after the event I was so emotional after seeing so many courageous young hearts who could dream as quick as they could speak, and it just made me pray that nothing could discourage them off their path. I hate how that can happen as we grow older. When we’re young it’s so easy to dream, imagine, and even play “pretend” to be anything we desire, until life happens and we take that as a road block instead of a road turn. My prayer to everyone at the event and anyone reading this blog is that you think about what you have a PASSION for in life, and this can be as simple as something you LOVE TO DO whenever the opportunity. Once you’ve defined this, find a way to make that a service to others.

The theme this year was Make Your Mark and to each of you young ladies reading this blog, I pray you Make Your Mark in the most sparkly smashtastic way until I see you next year. This has actually inspired me to find a way I can make my mark for all the “ems” out there around the country by developing an event like this for all schools across the nation. This weekend was Perez’ party, and yea yea yea it was everything u’ve read it was. Elephant entrances with Katy Perry to Liza Minnell lovin on Perez, aerial performers to Rupaul working the dancefloor. I’ll give u the dish u really wanna know -  mai fave moments…

Bday boy Perez is an absolute gent in person. So sweet, was glowing, (well, he was in gold lame) and wow, even thinner than the last time I saw him. He was totally running around being the accommodating host- I really love hosts who do that! Made me like him even more cuz he cared bout his guests.

Katy Perry always looks smashtastic so obvi she rockd the red glitz.  

Alison Sweeney- we actually both walked in last year’s Susan G Komen’s 8th annual breast cancer event, but I’ve never gotten a chance to personally meet her. Um–I’m a new fan. Not only is she a super proud mama of 2 UHdorable kids, but she’s drop dead down to earth, and how do u not love a champ to overcome her fear of midgets..or at least for this second so we could take the pic, ha! (They were following her actually.) Anyway, I’m excited to get her book The Mommy Diet, because she’s baring all her secrets and honest truth to looking like the way she does AFTER kids! Uh, I’ll take the tips now instead of waiting for hell to freeze over

Nobody dresses up for theme parties anymore, and it bugs me. At my own parties, my guests know better than to come not dressed to play. I heart Mel B and Leona Lewis even more. Represented the “Carn-evil” affair. 

Gaga sending her love from afar would have personally be enough of a present for me…

…but when Liza Minnelli came out to the stage and poured out such love for Perez sitting front row, the entire room was overjoyed with her energy. There was seriously nothing cuter. It was such a moment.

Happiest birthday Perez! Still don’t get why we have to draw pee and things on people, but whatever.

I don’t know if it was because of her sensational sense of humor or ..let’s be honest, her tig o bitties onscreen. DID YOU SEE this woman’s outfits?? Everyone has been asking me if that outfit she first walked out in was staged and I’m like, How in the heck would you think I could convince a woman with triple threat breasts to arrive… wearing a shirt backwards….as a dress!?

I’m good, but not that good.

That’s right friends. I’m dying of excitement to finally be taking the first vacation in three stretched years of non-stop working. And well, I even feel bad saying that because I lovemy jobs, so I don’t even feel like I’m overworked, but this is an entirely different trip where I’m going to be working in the way I most love.

So where am I going?? To…(drumroll please, with chopsticks)…

Saigon, Vietnam!! Not only am I so thrilled to be visiting one of my most favorite countries in the world, but I’m elated to meet the children and families of an organization I’m very passionate about- Heartbeat Vietnam, a program by Vina Capital Fund to hold provincial outreach clinics staffed by  volunteer doctors and surgeons from major hospitals in Vietnam. The first time I was ever made aware of the lack of hospital care in Vietnam was on my last family trip there a few years back. We were traveling away from the city life of Ho Chi Minh and headed more towards the rural countryside to visit distant family and friends. Once there, I recognized instantly the need for medical attention. I remember visiting the villages outside Hanoi and coming across numerous households with children that were sick, some with flus having lasted for weeks, some bedridden from unknown illnesses. When I’d ask why these children haven’t made their way to see a doctor, the answer was unanimous: with none to little finances and the only options for care being hours into town over rough terrain, the only hope was to pray for a miracle. This was so hard for me to fathom, and I realized I’ve never thought twice that I live 6 blocks away from one of the finest hospitals here in LA. This made me determined to bring not just this awareness back to the states, but something back to Vietnam for these hopefilled families.

After a quick VO session, I jammed across town to enjoy the next part of my super day- a photoshoot set up with my smashin in fashion studmuffin stylist Sam Russel. Not only was he styling me up with his saucy picks, but he was joined with an incredible team of professionals I have to blog about cuz these humble gents won’t pop their own collars. We’ve got Mr. Jeff Jones, an incredible artist who painted my face and rocked my locks like I’ve never seen, an adorable assistant James John Jetel who tended to us with his picture perfecting eye and warm hospitality, and a fabulous Eric Raptosh, a photographer extraordinaire who brought all the elements of my style, my emotions, his vision, to life.

Thank you gentlemen. These pictures barely describe all the wonderful work these boys put into the entire day, so you’ll just have to make it back here to see the fantastic pics. And guess what– I’m not the only one that can get blessed with Eric Raptosh’s wicked talented eye, you too can get a memorable shot of yourself, and for a terrific cause. A few nights ago I took out my Pretty Posse-my talented group of hair, makeup, and wardrobe all wrapped into colorful bodies of fun, sparkling energy. These guys take my personal style and help me refresh and invigorate it into different versions of me. Because I have such exciting opportunities to dress up, I really do love to ask the famous four words to my show, “How Do I Look?” I believe style is a confident perspective of your identity, and celebrating it with the people who love you.

That said, I just had to take this wonderful group out for a magical night..to the one and only Magic Castle here in Hollywood, CA! Not only do these guys lend their talents to spoiling me, but they also get into fun events like this to the special people around us. Every outfit you see on my show starts from a moment of inspiration, with dabs and touches from each department until we create a full look that caters to the specific segment of the show. It’s brillz just making the fun lil doll of design come to life until I can put “her” on! Here’s to Norma Blaque and Hope Zarro, my hair fairies who always made sure each of my strands were sensationally sassy. Craig Beaglehole and Bonni Flowers, my makeup stars who know exactly how to light and lift my smiling face up camera perfect for any shot.  Hollie, Megan, and Ashley, for being such dolls in helping me every way I could need. And Bory Tan, my long time love,  for playing dress up with me each and every time- and helping me to make it become a reality for those who deserve that Cinderella moment around us.

Also, my most proudest CONGRATS to my Norma Blaque, for being honored “Latino Star” from BE Magazine at the ISSE show in Long Beach, CA! Thatta girl!!!
