Jeannie Mai at the Miss Universe Pageant!

Hi friends! HUGE NEWS that I’m delighted to share with you first. I am officially the fashion correspondent for the 60th Annual Miss Universe Pageant, which for the first time ever is being held in Sao Paolo, Brazil!! That’s right!! I’m Brazil right now, celebrating some of the world’s most beautiful and talented women. These ladies work tremendously hard and have to be SO FOCUSED to even place their positions. Can you imagine what an honor it is to represent your entire country? No matter who takes the crown, I’m so proud of these gals.

So I hope you can join to watch the event! These ambitious women from 89 countries will compete in swimsuit, evening gown and answer a final question before ONE is crowned Miss Universe 2011. And of course you’re gonna get all the goods from me about their slammin fashion choices.

The pageant is airing LIVE this Monday, September 12 starting at 9pm EST on NBC. And for all my mama-citas out there, you can also catch a Spanish simulcast on Telemundo.

Besides myself and the fab contestants, the show will also feature hosts Andy Cohen from BRAVO’s “Watch What Happens Live” and Natalie Morales of NBC’s “Today” Show.

Here’s mai fave part since I love involving you Jeanniebugs: Here’s how YOU can IMPACT the pageant from HOME! Leading up to the telecast, fans in represented countries will be able to vote online for their favorite contestant to automatically reach the semifinals. Fans can vote at www.missuniverse.com or www.NBC.com through Sunday, September 11 at 6 p.m. ET.

Fast Forward Friday

It’s no easy job looking absolutely fabulous each and every day, and I have my Pretty Posse to thank for that extra polish of perfection they put on me. We call this the “Fashion pit stop” before I head on set, and it’s actually the MOST important part of an outfit because of the finishing touches with accessories, the right shoes, right lips, touches of hair, and checks to make sure I don’t have food in my teeth since I’m always friggen eating :) Comment if u enjoy and I’ll keep em coming!

How to Dress for a Hot Date for a Hot Price

Hi luvs! Some of the most common misconceptions that I hear women say on How Do I Look is that dressing stylish is too expensive and takes too much. This little video shows how untrue that is.

Honorable mention goes to the following fab people for their tips as well. Thanks you, guys!

Jamie from Melbourne, FL wrote:

My ‘childhood’ beauty tip comes from my teenage years… I LOVED anything glittery & sparkly, but could never find the right eye makeup to really make my eyes sparkle and pop. So I would buy loose glitter to use as eyeliner. To apply it just right and get it to stick, I would dip an eyeshadow brush into a tube of clear mascara, then dip the coated brush into the glitter and line my lids. So sparkly & so pretty! :)

Nicky from South Africa wrote:

When applying eyeliner on upper lids/waterline, it may clump in places. This can look dodgy. Just use a smudger brush over the clumped areas to even it out, and giving a more natural effect. The excess eyeliner will collect on the brush, use this on the lower lid as close to the lash line as possible, giving a natural (not too dark) smoky effect. Oh and a great way of removing make up is using Johnson’s baby oil:) works like a charm, comes off so easily. Ok, I will be honest I did not do that as a child…But my childhood tip would be homemade facials: a great 1 for those breakouts would be mixing 2 tablespoons of honey with a sprinkle of cinnamon. And a nourishing, refreshing facial for cleaning and cleansing the skin is mixing cocoa butter with a teaspoon of salt. Oh and Jeannie you rock and I LOVE your style! <3

Why How Do I Look? actually took home the win

Ok I’ll admit it. It hurts. Not that we didn’t win, but that I didn’t choose heels that could last me the entire night our HDIL family spent celebrating the achievement of our second Emmy nomination for the 2011 Creative Emmy Awards. I’m not even kidding when I say that our crew is seriously the most caring, selfless, fun loving group of people one could ever meet. I can’t get enough of every person on our team, being around them is just re-filling, not to mention impactful for the life changing stories of guests we have on our show.

So we didn’t win the Emmy. Martha Stewart took it once again, which is cool because if I could take a tree stump and turn it into a frosted cake I’d probably have two Emmys by now too. But we didn’t need the actual gold statue to feel like winners. With all the amazing work we do, we knew we’d already won.
