Jena was such a special guest on my show. For such a small package, this beautiful woman packed a powerful punch. I’ll be the first to say there really wasn’t much to change about Jena at all, (I really liked her spunky Steampunk Style), except the perception Jena had on herself. This show reveals such amazing shades to every guest that our 1 hour show can hardly capture, but I think the best “reveal” is the one we can see, and that is when our guest goes home. Oh man. Was this episode latex overload. I seriously couldn’t even LOOK at my leggings after shooting this episode. Alondrea (the guest on this week’s show) made me question everything containing spandex I owned. Thanks Alondrea, I own like 15 oversized boho baggy blouses and harem pants now. But all is not lost! This was a fanTAsTically fun episode for outfits of course! What did you guys think? Tell me your faves, cuz we sure did lock down some purdy finds!

Mai Closet: Episode 1105 with Illiana

Ahhh, this episode was a doozy. I can still remember standing there just bewildered at how Illiana, our guest on this week’s episode, tried everything to talk herself out of a makeover. If she walked off the show with even just a shirt that fit over her midriff, I would have been thrilled! However, at the end of the day Illiana had an amazing heart and turned when she saw how her ill-fitted clothing actually made her appear 2-3 sizes bigger than she actually was! She later told me off camera that she never realized the effects of her style could later teach her daughter the same low self-esteem, too. The breakdown to each bombshell fit’ worn on our Season Premier episode!! This is one of Mai most favorite things to share because I have an UNBELIEVABLE Pretty Posse that works hard to put our visions together to build fashion the way I like it- FUN.

Recently I did a photoshoot for MusicFashion Magazine, shot by the gorgeous Larissa Underwood from Larissa Underwood Photography . It was soo much fun! I absolutely adore fashion shoots, and watching this fabulous lil video made by Miss Marie Choi, me realize every single woman must experience their own fashion photo shoot sometime in their life. In fact, I would prescribe it to take place at least once a year, just to celebrate the place in life you feel you’re in at the time. It can be such a fun, playful, transparent way of celebrating yourself, and it’s healthy to see outside yourself as the team of hair, makeup, wardrobe, and your photog bring a version of you to life.  Read more...

I recently attended the 2010 Maxim Hot 100 party held at the Paramount Studios where I met celebs like Ciara, Russell Simmons, Olivia Munn, and my fave, Nicole Scherzinger. (Yes..even more gorgeous in person.) Luckily, I didn’t get this caught in my heel. Anyway, it was a great party. I always go to these things and scope out the food first. Dope beats and yum grub makes a hot party to keep me out late since I wake up round 5am each morning. My fave about this one–they had an ice cream truck parked with all the hood faves like Choco Taco and Strawberry Shortcakes!! Ughhh, it’s been too long, I LOVE THOSE!  Read more...
