The How Do I Look? host couldn’t resist going Old Hollywood glam, and styled her famously blue-streaked, jet-black locks into retro, long curls.

The fashion expert sparkled like the stars with glittering jewels and box clutch. She’s even got the pose down!

The petite fashionista 5’2? Jeannie Mai is best known as the host of The Style Network’s two-time Emmy nominated television program “How Do I Look?” More than just a fashion-intervention show, Jeannie empowers women to discover their true beauty, overcome their insecurities, and employ fashion to give them the confidence they need to help achieve their career goals.

Jeannie was also named the backstage fashion and digital correspondent for the highly anticipated NBC show “Fashion Star” and after recently returning from Brazil where she hosted the 2011 Miss Universe pageant, she was named as the new on-camera fashion expert tasked with contestant makeovers on NBC’s hit franchise “Biggest Loser”. Jeannie is also a style expert for Perez Hilton’s hit fashion website, which brings in over 9 million unique visitors per month, and appears as a frequent fashion correspondent on the “Today Show” and “E! News.”

Prior to her current role at the Style Network, she was part of the on-air beauty squad on the hit TLC series “10 Years Younger” and one of the judges on the TLC series “Miss America: Reality Check.” She has also appeared as a popular host for several other networks including: E!, NBC, MTV, TLC, and Lifetime and has also hosted a wide variety of other specials at Style Network including: “Dude, Where’s your Style?,” “Go Fix Yourself,” and “Lucky Shops” in conjunction with Lucky Magazine.

Before becoming a television personality, Jeannie was a celebrity makeup artist and stylist from San Jose, CA. Throughout her career she has worked with celebrities including: Sarah Jessica Parker, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Aniston, Christina Aguilera, and Kelly Osbourne. She premiered on the Emmy-nominated Asian American television magazine show “Stir.”

After gaining attention for her spunky personality and knack for style, she became an entertainment reporter and producer of the WB’s “Daily Mixx” before moving to Los Angeles to host MTV’s “Granted” alongside Frankie Muniz. Her big break came when she was tapped as the host of “Character Fantasy” on USA Network and eventually became a regular correspondent for “Extra.”

Jeannie has made it her mission to inspire, educate, and empower women, receiving rave reviews as a speaker on the main stage at Maria Shriver’s The Women’s Conference. This passion for empowerment has given her the title of “Wearapist”. The title comes from her psychology of style she has calls “Wearapy” which is her practice that style and wardrobe can have an empowering and healing effect on a woman’s confidence and mood.

Rather than focusing on trends or labels, Jeannie teaches how color and textures in personal wardrobe choices can dramatically enhance a woman’s self-confidence and mood, while transforming the environment of situations around her. I must give it to Ricky Gervais for making me laugh once again at this year Golden Globes. I wasn’t shocked by his naughty humor mixed with soft satire, but I was shock with his moment with Johnny Depp. I mean The Tourist isn’t my pick to watch within the Johnny archives. But that moment made me laugh.

It was great to see the winners win for their great acting. Like Octavia Spencer, Claire Danes, Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, Madonna. In the guy category George Clooney, Idris Elba, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese. But what was so touching was the tribute to Morgan Freeman as well as Sidney Poitier and his great speech.

Overall it was an interesting night with some very interesting moments. Because each winner had to succumb to the hurry up your speech is too long song. I thought it was kind of annoying, but they were able to thank God and their agent. So it wasn’t all that annoying of an award show, so with that overview of the thrilling 2012 Golden Globes. I must bring up the one thing I always look forward doing.

This time, it’s the celebs who will be asking ‘How do I look?’

As the host of Style Network’s How Do I Look?, we’re used to seeing “wearapist” Jeannie Mai critique the style of everyday people — but this weekend, she’ll be focusing on her lens on Hollywood! Jeannie will be joining Natalie Morales and Carson Daly as a co-host of NBC’s 2012 Golden Globes red carpet pre-show!

 

HollywoodLife.com exclusively reported back in August that Jeannie was also named the “Digital Fashionista” for NBC’s upcoming reality show Fashion Star.

I received the most amazing news that may or may not rock your socks off, but it  sure did mine, thats why I have sandals on.

As some of you may know from my previous tweets and facebook status, I am co-hosting the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Arrival Special with Carson Daly and Natalie Morales at 7pm / 6pm central LIVE on NBC. Which is superb because he’s just adorable and she’s stunning. I’m just the genius.

And of course mai fave part of getting ready for the crimson carpet is picking out mai smashion fashions. As with every outfit, I always look to reflect my personality through Wearapy- where the color and textures of an outfit will deliver a clear message.

So I’m having a little trouble deciding which dress is best!  I need a lil help from you Bugs. I’m trying on many colors, but blue gives off a royal and regal energy, yet also can be calming and tranquil. That would be great to cheer these celebs on into the show! Little Alexandria here was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on Thanksgiving 2011. She is 4 years old and will be having surgery in the coming days to remove a kidney.

I truly believe God makes everything happen for a reason. I believe that even if we can’t see it or understand it now, in the bigger picture I trust that we affect one another to do great or become greater together and apart. When I watched this video of Alex, I could immediately see that Alex has the power to create hope, faith, and change through all of us around her that hear her story.

There is always hope. Alex can likely have a long road to recovery ahead of her, and EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS.  Her parents, both full time students, have set up this donation site to assist with medical costs. When I say that every little bit helps, I truly mean it from every dollar to every prayer. So I ask anybody reading this blog to pray, give, or even send well wishes to this family to encourage them on. THANK YOU.

Style Network’s Jeannie Mai Shares Her Beauty Resolutions for 2012!

Do you need a fresh new look for 2012 or just a little tweak to your current beauty regime?

The Style network’s makeover guru, Jeannie Mai, shares her makeup bag resolutions and beauty predictions for the new year—think color, a quicker hair routine and a positive attitude. It’s an inspirational six-point plan to your most beautiful year ever!

1. “I’m obsessed with lips, what I call glitter lips. I think a woman’s lips can be the most powerful and attractive trait of a woman’s face. I’m excited to try new ways of decorating my own lips next year.”

2. “Color is power to me, which is why I’m known as a wearapist. Wearapy is what I consider wearing specific colors and textures to manipulate what you want in life. For example, green means life, orange is intelligent energy…I’d love to try those colors on lips to inject that into what I’m saying!”

3. “I have my shower AND makeup routine down so that I can be ready and out the door in 10 minutes! It’s hair that takes me forever. I have no idea how to do my own hair—so I’d love to get some tips from my very own hairstylist Norma Blaque for quick hairstyles in less than five minutes. If I learn I’ll shoot a video so you can learn too.”

4. “You know…I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m totally noticing li’l things about my face that weren’t there before. And I’m gonna admit I haven’t been the most responsible with skin because I take advantage of being Asian and young. So next year, I’m totally going to be specific about my skincare regime and stick to it!”

5. “I get asked a lot of questions from aspiring fans about life and my career that I got too busy to answer last year. I still have them all saved in a section on my email called Just Ask Jeannie. Next year I’m committing to tackle those questions on a weekly basis for mai blog. So send em on in!”

6. “The one secret to beauty that I believe is important to have, no matter what time of the year, is an attitude of gratitude. There is absolutely nothing in the world that can age a person more than feelings of bitterness or contempt. So always have in your heart that stuff you can’t find in a bottle, like forgiveness, hope and love.”

Tonight is the big night. Time to bid farewell to 2011 and embrace the transition into 2012! It’s the last few hours of indulgence, and celebrations before your New Years Resolutions kick in on Sunday!

The holidays are so important to me. As I’ve gotten older I don’t care so much about the presents, I’m all about the feeling of everyone you love together in one place. I just busted thru my family albums here at home in San Jose and wanna share pics with you thru the holidays! This was me when I was about 13, (shuddit, you love the perm), and the people in the picture are my little cousin, my aunts, and my grandfather the very first year they all came to America from Vietnam. It was so exciting because there were 13 people living in our 3 bedroom home, and the stove was covered in bubbling pots of Pho because duh, that’s what we Mai’s have for Christmas!
