// October 25th, 2011 // 4 Comments » // Mai News

You know it’s a great day when you can get a reporter to do the How Do I Look pose with you.

It’s day 4 here in Sydney, Australia and after a full day of press yesterday I think I MAY have the accent down! Well, sorta. Either way I can never get sick of it…the ladies sound so sweet and the guys so sexy! I just love the energy the Aussie’s posses, even if early in the morn like this below.

I’ll post any interviews here that I come across, and thanks for all the supportive tweets and facebook posts! Jeannie BUGS! Today I meet my babe from the Bronte that needs a makeover to move fwd in her life. Can’t wait to see what I’m up for. What do you think I can expect from here in Australia??

// October 24th, 2011 // No Comments » // Fun, Mai News

Ok mates. It’s been a few days that I’ve been here in Sydney, Australia, and I’m just dying over this beautiful place. I’ve had “chips” (fries) with sour cream and sweet chili, more Tim Tams than I can handle, and check out my new friends I just made!!

SO here’s the deal. For the first time evah (how you Aussie’s say it), How Do I Look  is shooting it’s first episode in Sydney. Oh yes..we’ve found ourselves a lil star from Bronte. I can’t tell you too much till the episode airs, but what I will share is a quote from this lil fiesty fashion victim herself.

Hey friends! It’s been such a hectic back to back year of traveling and work for me that I realized I never even got the chance to update u all on my current travels. Right now I just finished up a qwik visit to Singapore, which has got to be every girl’s DREAM place to visit. I’ve seen a mall on a street, but never a STREET full of MALLS! And not just any mall- mega, ginormous, decked out in every brand and unknown brand known to woman. Stores stacked so closely together they make the walls look like tissue paper! And lemme ask you this, what could possibly be better than a Food Court? How about a SHOE COURT?

Pray it Forward

// September 27th, 2011 // No Comments » // A-freakn-men!!, Pray It Forward

Kathryn, our prayers are with your friend. She sounded wonderful, and I’m pretty sure she’s making so many happy in heaven now as well.

I just wanted to write out a prayer to you because I know that you listen to all your followers and care about each one of us.

Today I found out that my best Avon customer passed away in her sleep on Wednesday.  She was a young 68 years old and she was amazing.

Who wants more Mai in your life?

Friends! I’m so excited to share this AMAZEballs news with you! I’m joining the cast of the new show Fashion Star and it’s one of the best ideas for a show I’ve ever heard. It combines fashion, reality TV, runway shows, online shopping, and makes it glitter and shine with great stars like Elle McPherson, Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos and Nicole Richie.

The best part of the show is that if you like the looks you see on the show, you can go online and buy the items yourself the very next day! Ummmm AMAZING! And if you luv wearing my fave items, don’t forget to follow me on Opensky where you can buy them yourself and score some of my fab discounts.

Bag it.

Happy Father’s Day to Mai Daddy

// June 19th, 2011 // 4 Comments » // Family

“Hey your guys!!!”

That’s mai dad. When he’d enter any room with that joyous voice, how the heck could I ever correct him? When I think about the tremendous responsibility my dad had to be a father figure to a free spirited, many times rebellious, little girl with big dreams, I sit back in awe over how he did it.

Dad, you truly taught me the essential life lessons that sculpted my character into who I am today- for my work, my relationships, and my marriage.

Have a heart – Give a heart

// June 17th, 2011 // 3 Comments » // A-freakn-men!!, Mai News

Hey friends. I just wanna tell you that I’m so thankful for this blog. Not only does it allow me to share the everyday platform I’ve been blessed with to impact women through identity and style, but your support allows me to share the life stories of others that have influenced me as well. Thanks for reading, you guys.
If you’ve followed my Facebook or Twitter, you know I’m a passionate supporter of Heartbeat Vietnam, a program of Vina Capital which funds life-saving heart surgery for the most disadvantaged children in Vietnam whose families cannot afford it. The first time my husband and I found out that about 30,000 children in Vietnam suffer from heart disease, I didn’t understand what that meant for these kids. What do you mean they couldn’t run outside like the others? Couldn’t dance? I couldn’t fathom being a child and not be able to do the things we all dream we could do forever as a child- PLAY. That’s when we decided to take action and support Heartbeat Vietnam through word of mouth and monetary donations, that were also matched by provincial government organizations.
Last year we decided to take a mission trip to Vietnam, where we were able to actually meet the recipient of donations like ours. Here’s a video of the beautiful Be Ha, just 4 days after her heart surgery.

I’m sharing this video for 2 reasons. One, to thank you for spreading the word about congenital heart disease, and two, to ask you for help. The Heartbeat Vietnam campaign on Facebook has raised enough so far from small donations to fund the heart operations of two young children, which is amazing!  It turns out that the second heart baby, Hong Hieu, has a twin sister who is also suffering from a congenital heart defect and needs surgery to live.  HBVN has just launched another campaign on FB to raise funds for her sister, Hong Thao, and I would be so grateful if you could help.  It’s such a ridiculous twist of fate that both of these girls were born with holes in their heart, and it would be even more ridiculous if we were able to save only one of them.
Any amount can help, and every prayer counts. Please do click on the FB link to lend your support, and I thank you so much for spreading this link to your friends. Heart u!
Thanks again for helping out with spreading the word about Hong Thao’s surgery…we actually don’t need to raise the entire cost of the surgery ($2k+) because of matching funds and no overhead.  Only about $800-$1000 is needed, HOWEVER ANY REMAINING MONEY CAN HELP ANOTHER CHILD IN NEED.
You can send them straight to the FB cause page (http://www.causes.com/causes/256033) or our website (http://www.vinacapitalfoundation.org/) to donate.
