Alicia and Me

Dearest Friends,

I just was able to watch the season premier of our wonderful next 20 weeks together on “How Do I Look?” Can I just tell you, I LOVE my show!  This week’s guest, Alicia, was the perfect way to kick us off into the exciting journey of our shows.  I mean come on, Jersey is the new black… and Alicia brought it with ATTACK!  This lovely lady definitely had some spunk and fight in her.  I mean, she made me break a nail from fighting over which pieces needed to go up the Eww Tube.  As difficult as it was to begin, I realized that our personalities are actually VERY similar.  She’s so bubbly and such a go-getter that in the end she came around beautifully.  In fact, upon her return to the “How Do I Look?” show, I was SO amazed by her updated fashion.  Can you believe this is her?!

I was recently approached by a talented sista named Sarah Jaggard to be interviewed, and was so honored because of what I know about her. Besides being gorgeous, she’s beyond brillz, sensationally smart, quick, and just one of those gung ho girls where you can’t help but get excited about what’s gonna happen next just standing beside her.  So you can imagine how thrilled I felt to answer her questions (and great questions btw! Never really got asked how I got started, and it’s so important of my life story.) So I wanted to share this blog from the gorgeous talented Sarah Jaggard and her site- SarahJaggard.blogspot.com.

First off, let me explain where I take my prayers: My prayer box. It’s sitting at the top of Runyon Canyon here in Los Angeles, and it’s a living miracle itself. In May last year, I hiked up, chained it up there, put one prayer of protection in it, and watched it fill up with fellow hopefilled Runyon hikers I’ve never met. 4 days later, it was gone, never to be seen again, with a mean Facebook message to me that “People shouldn’t be allowed to pray.” Bitter much? Whatevs, I prayed for them! Fast forward to Jan 1st this year, the box returns, on it’s side, all dirty and mangled, with only 2 prayers in it, ONE BEING MINE.

Faith never fails.

So today I’m praying about CPAF and Haiti. I’m also praying that you as my friend reading will be touched in any way to lend your own support in these situations as you feel lead. It only takes a second to vote, contribute, or even pray. Thank you for reading. I freakn heart u guys.

Hi friends. It’s not always that I’ll ask a favor from you guys. Unless it’s to help another. And in this case it takes your quick click.

It’s one thing for a woman to be suffering in an abusive living situation, but it’s another to be isolated in fear when you feel culturally bound to your circumstances with nobody to reach out to for help. There is a one-of-a-kind shelter here in Los Angeles that provides a safe haven for women/families of abused situations. CPAF (Center for Pacific Asian Family) is the first to open a multi-lingual and multi-cultural transitional housing program. Growing up first generation Asian American, I’ve always recognized the difficulty for the women around me to communicate about any dangerous relationships they were struggling with- let alone dare ask for help. I only wish I had known about places like CPAF back then to encourage those women to speak up.

The unfortunate news is that CPAF runs the risk of closing down due to lack of funding. If this happens, the women and children rebuilding their lives could be released with nowhere to go. Chase Community Giving will gift $1 million to CPAF if you can click this vote.
