MY kinda “Game” Night :)
// November 17th, 2009 // Food, Fun

So I don’t know how many people know this- but my man hunts. No, not just for a fun, lovable lil asian tv host to put a ring on
, but for wild game like bear, elk, deer, wild turky, you name it. Yes we eat or donate all the meat, and yes I love animals. They’re delicious. So anyway, everytime Freddy hunts, I’ve wanted him to bring home the beef so we can make some bomb exotic dishes, but there’s one catch: I can’t cook anything that didn’t come pre cut and labeled from Trader Joe’s. (One time I submitted a reel to be the Next Food Network Star, totally got picked into the finals, flew me out to NY to prepare a meal in front of Bobby Flay, and I played along the entire way thinking I could skool him. Let’s just say when I started ripping the chicken in front of me with the head still on to try to get the meat off to make him a damn sandwich, they were already booking my flight home.) So anyway, my fantastic foodie freak friend Gev and I always brainstorm terrific ways to bring food and great people together. I told him, you find a way to fix up this elk so it’s yummy, and it’s done. We’ve had one event before, and it was super, but I ain’t gonna lie. Elk is not to be grilled. Blech. So round two Gev got smarter. Last night we had ourselves in the presence of an unbelievable gourmet chef, Vaughn (who’s actually a vegetarian!) who made Elk Sliders, Elk Chili, and the most scrumptious Elk meatballz EVER. With our fantastic hosts Lena and Louis, warm hearted food loving friends, lotsa wine and yummy homemade dishes (lemony baba ganoush, punkin tarts, fresh farmers market salads, banana pies, ugh!).. voila! This Sunday we had ourselves an unforgettable “Game” Night. I love the fellowship great people and food create!
Thanks so much to everyone who made it happen! For more pics, see my facebook page, cuz we best be friends by now dammit

bear, elk, deer, wild turky and more!? wow! all that meat…*drools* The party about you preparing a meal in front of Bobby Flay, hilarious. I could seriously picture you ripping the chicken apart lolz.
Jeannie,
Great recap of a terrific event. I enjoyed meeting you and Freddy. Thanks to Vaugn, that elk clearly died a noble death. Also, thanks to Gev for organizing and Lena and Louis for hosting. Very memorable.
