Speaking at the 2010 Maria Shriver Women’s Conference

There have been many events that I’ve felt too humbled to be a part of: Hosting a life changing, Emmy-nominated makeover show…creating a Prayer Box for a community…but nothing tops the invite I received of a lifetime: Hosting the 2010 Maria Shriver Woman’s Conference. There I was, with a lineup of powerful, passionate women with one like goal in mind—to empower each other. Needless to say, it was a day I can honestly say was a goal to be a part of.

Special thanks to The Style Network, its wonderful Marketing Team for making the connections (Thank you Marta, Melissa, Suzanne, all of you), Dress for Success for believing in every willing beauty out there, to Emiliano Moreno for making my vision of “Jeannie Mai Business Casual”, and to all you fans for praying me up.

MAXIM Hot 100 Red Carpet Interview Video- “What’s Hot?”

I recently attended the 2010 Maxim Hot 100 party held at the Paramount Studios where I met celebs like Ciara, Russell Simmons, Olivia Munn, and my fave, Nicole Scherzinger. (Yes..even more gorgeous in person.) Luckily, I didn’t get this caught in my heel. Anyway, it was a great party. I always go to these things and scope out the food first. Dope beats and yum grub makes a hot party to keep me out late since I wake up round 5am each morning. My fave about this one–they had an ice cream truck parked with all the hood faves like Choco Taco and Strawberry Shortcakes!! Ughhh, it’s been too long, I LOVE THOSE!

Anyway, thank you Hollywire hot hosts Katie Krause and Chelsea Briggs (single?? Jeez ladies, SO up-4-grabs-gorgeous,) for sending this to me, and thank you Miss Norma Blaque, my ultimate on-set hair stylist who TuRNs Mai HaIR OUT for my show and that night so stunningly. (We’re goin on a more blue brigade highlights this weekend so stay tuned for mai personal How Do I Look??) Enjoy this video on “What’s Hot” :)

More than a Makeover

Happy Monday friends! I’m having such a great start to my week today, mainly because I just received this letter and had to share:

Hello Jeannie ,

I just wanted to take the time to say thank you. The short time you and i spent together was something i will take with me forever. You see the entire staff was so amazing and so encouraging the through the entire process . You however said one thing to me that will stick with me always . You said that I was an amazing mother to autumn but since I was not taking care of myself as a woman should , I was in turn not teaching autumn to be ladylike and womanly. Today we went shopping for the first time since my reveal on friday and we had fun trying on clothes and buying make up. Autumn actually asked me to buy her a dress . Thanks to your words my lil girl and I are ready for womanhood.

I received this from a remarkable woman who was our guest this past week on my show “How Do I Look” on Style Network. A single mother from the Bronx, Illiana literally had the eye of the tiger and the heart of an angel. Illliana shared a unique story that set her apart from the more common reasons for a makeover, describing how her rough upbringing left her prioritizing every single other person in her life besides herself. It was so rewarding for me to go back to those “first” moments every girl needs to experience no matter what age: first time in heels, first time getting her hair done, even first time being able to feel pretty!! Illiana had me in tears when she revealed herself on our live stage on Hollywood and Highland simply because my chest filled up with pride that she was finally on the receiving end of all she’s done for others. Then to look out into the audience and see the very special guest we flew in to celebrate these “firsts” for Illiana as well!

You’ll just have to watch and see how Illiana’s gorgeous look turned out. New season airs July 10th, Saturdays 8/7c!

Mai Emmy Nomination!!!!

I don’t even know how to begin this blog.  I’ve literally been sitting here in my office at Extra trying to figure out how to announce this any other way, but I can’t except to shout at the top of my lungs–

My show, “How Do I Look?” on Style Network has been nominated for a daytime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Lifestyle Program!!

This is the second show I’ve hosted that’s been nominated for an emmy since I first started hosting, and is incredible news to celebrate because in all honesty, as cliche as it sounds, it truly is an honor just to be nominated. When I think back to mai blogs shared about incredible guests to mai “Pretty Posse“, mai team of hair, makeup, and wardrobe that bring my fantasy of fashion to life, all of you reading know how blessed I already feel to be doing what I love through this show: encouraging people to reach their best potential. Through this show, I don’t make over people’s clothes. I make over their confidence. My mother taught me this once before, and it built who I am to live doing this every day of my life towards everyone around me. I’m just honored to be able to do it through a show where others can be influenced and enjoy.

Mai biggest congrats and thanks to the entire team and power to push for us at Style Network, and to every single member of the How Do I Look family that makes these lives come to life on our show.
And thanks for celebrating with me all you friends! I’m going to have to go search for an Emmy dress now. Eek! Until then, would love to share here some of mai fave moments. Enjoy!

How Do I Look New Season Countdown—Five more days!

(New episode airing Jan 2, 8/7c)  Can’t think of a better way than to start the new year than with a new look, right? Um..and  didn’t even know there was going to be a sneak peak Jan 1st until watching this video.
