Back in the Habit(ual)

Usually you hear me gushing about Habitual, but today they’re gushing about me. And I’m blushing. Check out my interview on Habitual’s website, here.

You can also read my answers below. :)

*******

You probably already know Jeannie Mai as the energetic host of Style Network’s Emmy-nominated show How Do I Look?, but you’ll also see her on NBC’s upcoming style competition show Fashion Star. Jeannie will serve as the show’s Digital Fashionista, alongside host Elle Macpherson and fashion mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos. In addition to chatting up the contestants on air, Jeannie will show off her spunk and style sense online in a series of ten online videos.

Known for using fashion to inspire, educate and empower women, Jeannie recently answered HABITUAL’s 5 Questions, and talked about food, being a fashionista, and “flasses”:

New York or Los Angeles, and why?

Sigh…why are you making me choose? NY for fashion & food, LA for swagger. Meaning…I love NY for the undeniable energy of inspiration for style, and the thousands of food choices can’t be beat. But I love LA for having it’s snobby swagga. Don’t hate.

Give us a sense of your personal style?

I’m playful. My style says it’s time to celebrate whatever I feel blessed to have for that day, whether it be my job, the event I’m hosting, my womanhood, or my imagination. I tend to find all of my inspiration to mix colors and textures through food, not only because I’m a foodiva, but also because I want to look delicious.

You’re best known for your work as a stylist and host, but what do you consider your greatest talent?

My greatest talent is celebrating people’s potential. I’m inspired by everyone, and can be any body’s greatest cheerleader. I believe everyone is uniquely talented- and when you mix that with potential, you have world changers.

What’s your daily habit?

Eating and praying. I love food, and love that it reminds me stop and say Thanks. I can’t live without the two.

What’s one thing in your closet you could never give up? And what’s your go-to piece in the closet right now?

One thing I could never give up are shoes. I feel sexy and powerful when I strut. My go – to piece are my flasses (fake glasses). They’re any body’s best sex-essory. Everyone should own a pair, I have 80.

BONUS: Leather or Lace?

Both, bonded tight.

Sue (I love you) Wong (time)

Friends, I’ve been in such a good mood since last week because we shot another very special wedding episode of How Do I Look? on location in Malibu. These special episodes get me so freaking excited because How Do I Look gets to go above and beyond in how we bless and empower the courageous women on our show. (And if it’s not on your calendar, mark Sept 5 for the 2-hour special where we search for the Worst Dressed Across America!)

Last week’s wedding guest was no exceptions to our streak of helping wonderful people in need of change. Despite her not-so-hot outfit choices, Oina had the warmest heart. And now her look matches it. I was beyond honored to be a part of the wedding so of course I had to wear one of my favorite designers who also has a huge heart, Sue Wong.

If you love show-stopper dresses that don’t shy away from beading, feathers, or gems, Sue Wong is your maid of honor. She really helped me “vow” the wedding party and I couldn’t help but share.

Who are you going to be wearing to your next wedding?

Fast Forward Friday!

It’s no easy job looking absolutely fabulous each and every day, and I have my Pretty Posse to thank for that extra polish of perfection they put on me. We call this the “Fashion pit stop” before I head on set, and it’s actually the MOST important part of an outfit because of the finishing touches with accessories, the right shoes, right lips, touches of hair, and checks to make sure I don’t have food in my teeth since I’m always friggen eating :)Comment if u enjoy and I’ll keep em coming!

Looking F-A-B at the TCAs

This week was the Summer TCA event for NBC Universal’s All-Star Press Tour featuring stars and personality from NBC, the Style Network, Bravo, E! and G4. I love these events because it’s great meeting all the people that make our shows come to life. And it’s fun to mingle with talent. You guys know I love getting dressed up for red carpets, especially if it’s for our very own Style Network, so I wore a collection of vintage pieces and got bedazzled up by the help of my wonderful Pretty Posse.  Loved how Norma gave me a braided bun, and Uzmee took me to town with this bronze glow! I really channeled my inner J-Lo. It’s all about the pose here. Ladies here’s a tip to make your legs look mega long, point that toe and soften that knee. Works wonders :)

Whaddya guys think of this outfit?

How to Dress for a Hot Date for a Hot Price

Hi luvs! Some of the most common misconceptions that I hear women say on How Do I Look is that dressing stylish is too expensive and takes too much. This little video shows how untrue that is.
